Isaac Pitman cameo

This year sees Trowbridge celebrating the 200th anniversary of Sir Isaac Pitman’s birth in the town. Pitman invented a popular form of shorthand called phonography and his legacy includes a range of learning materials once used by journalists and secretarial colleges around the world. Are you a member of the Pitman family, or do you have fond memories of learning the Pitman method? If so, we invite you to get in touch and share your thoughts so we can publish them on a special Pitman page on our website. We hope to recreate Isaac Pitman’s study as part of our New Museum Project, so if you want to see his desk restored and displayed and more of his books and memorabilia out on show, please make a donation to the Project via the Donate button.
