Monday 12th January saw the much anticipated home coming of our very own Magna Carta Baron Henry De Bohun! De Bohun was one of the twenty- five Barons elected to enforce Magna Carta and as such his bronze statue resides in the House of Lords, along with other Bishops and barons that are associated with the sealing of this great charter. His head- quarters were in Trowbridge- making this town one of only 2 in the South West that can claim to have their very own Magna Carta baron! The plaster ‘maquette’ was used as the mould from which his bronze statue was cast and Trowbridge Museum has been lucky enough to secure its loan from Canterbury Museums Service. It will form an integral part of our new exhibition ‘Magna Carta- Game of Barons,’ which opens at the end of February. Come along and see our formidable baron Henry De Bohun, finally back home where he belongs in our museum!
