Practical Netting (2 week course)

Saturday 28th October, 1.00pm – 3.00pm & Saturday 4th November, 11.00am – 1.00pm
Cost: £30 for the course (2 sessions)
Tutor: Europa Davidson

Netting is a craft that dates back at least 4,000 years. There are paintings in the Egyptian tombs showing hunters with nets. The same technique of netting is used today, though the more varied yarns give us a greater range of possibilities for the completed work.

In this 2-part course, we begin with the basic technique for netting a square or diamond mesh. Once this is mastered, you may wish to explore netting other patterns, embroidery on net or make a net string bag for the groceries. All materials are included in the fee.

About the Tutor: Europa is a lace/knotting and tatting enthusiast and she travels the world to attend international conferences to get updates on the techniques and their history.
