The British designer Mary Quant was part of the 1960s fashion revolution and used cloth from Trowbridge mills for her miniskirts and hot pants. In this beginners workshop we will be weaving some of the cloth designs ordered by Quant, and talk about how she used the fabric for her fashionable garments. Weaving on the easy-to-use rigid heddle loom, we will explore a variety of techniques and talk about the next step should you like to start weaving your own fabrics at home. You will be able to take home your samples and instructions.

No previous experience is necessary and all materials will be supplied.

Please note that the workshops are subject to change. In the event of a cancelled workshop, we aim to inform you 2 days before the starts date of a workshop and you will receive a full refund. If you need to cancel a workshop, refunds will only be given if you give us at least one week’s notice before the start of the workshop. If you give us less than one week’s notice, no refund will be given.
Participants need to be able to work unaided. If you would like to attend but require more assistance you are welcome to bring another adult to support you at no extra charge. If you require more information on the workshop please call us on 01225 751339 and we will happily advise.
