On Monday mornings we run a craft activity for adults with learning difficulties, which encourages the development of fine motor skills, colour recognition and social skills, and was recently mentioned in a national report, Museums and Spaces for Wellbeing, produced by the National Alliance for Museums, Health and Wellbeing.
Each week the participants will work on a particular craft project, which might be making papier-mache pumpkins, decorating plant pots or designing Christmas cards and throughout the years they’ll have lots of opportunities to try out different craft techniques. The sessions are led by a member of the museum’s Learning andf Outreach team and take place in the Museum’s dedicated education room. They currently cost £2 per person, support workers and carers are very welcome and can come for free, and run every Monday morning from 10.30 – 11.30. For further information contact the Museum’s Learning and Outreach Officer, David Birks via email, or call 01225 751339.
